Portrait Series
Portraits feature amongst Blair-Hickman’s body of works, most of them oil pastels. Some include people she met in the streets including the homeless and elderly. Inspired by artists such as Vincent van Gogh, Georges Sureat and David Newman-White, she explored the techniques used by these artists, in particular their bold use of colour and intricate mark making. Each portrait has a story woven within it.
